OVERVIEW Students who follow this in-depth curriculum and pass the exam will earn the French Wine Scholar™ (FWS) post-nominal (e.g. John Smith, FWS). WHO IS THE PROGRAM FOR? The French Wine Scholar™ program is designed for both professionals and enthusiasts. It is a great resource and supplement for learners of wine moving toward the advanced wine programs from the CMS, CWE, WSET or MW. While not a pre-requisite, we recommend that candidates successfully complete at least the first level of one of these programs before enrolling the FWS program. WHY STUDY FRENCH WINES? All learners of wine eventually discover France. Some use it as the starting point to begin their wine journey while others arrive in France after having sampled the wines of other countries. There is a world within French wine and wine styles of France have certainly impacted the entire wine world. France is the botanic birth place of the most commercially significant grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah to name a few. Therefore, by studying French wine, learners build a strong foundation of knowledge from which to expand at will. INCLUDES: 10 class meetings of 3 hours of lecture & tutored tastings hosted by an approved instructor. 60 in-class wines tasting samples 274-page full-color manual 1-year access to online program (e-learning multimedia, review quizzes, and downloadable maps Registration for the FWS examination ​ WHAT YOU"LL LEARN: For each wine region, you will learn how viticulturists and winemakers have exploited their natural terroir to craft the styles and quality of wines known today. The wine regions include: Alsace, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Savoie, Loire, Bordeaux, Languedoc-Roussillon, Rhône, Southwest France, Provence, Corsica and Champagne EXAMINATION The final examination consists of a 100 multiple choice questionnaire. Candidates who achieve a 75% pass will be awarded a the FWS post-nominal, a pin and certificate. Candidates who achieve a score of 85-90% will graduate with Honors Candidates who achieve a score of 91% or above will graduate with Highest Honors. Terms and Conditions

To attend any course, you must be over 20 years old. Only a completed booking form with student declaration will be accepted. Bookings are not secured until payment is received. All courses must be paid for in advance. Courses are subject to a minimum of 10 candidates. If, on reaching the booking deadline, there is an insufficient number of candidates, the course will be cancelled, and full refund will be arranged for candidates who have already paid minus the costs of materials already supplied. CANCELLATION & REFUNDS By Wine & Spirit IQ: In the rare case of unavoidable reason a host-educator is unable to teach, and a replacement cannot be made, a session may be cancelled and rescheduled. Wine and Spirit IQ will make every effort to reschedule the session to a date that is most suitable for most candidates. No refund, however, will be made to any candidate who is unable to attend the rescheduled session for whatever reason. By Candidate: Bookings are refundable up to 21 working days prior to the course starting date. All refund requests must be made by email. A fee of 1,500 THB plus the full cost of Study material supplied will be deducted and the remainder of the course fee refunded. No refunds are available for cancellations received within 20 working days prior to the first day of class. TRANSFERS/DEFERRALS Transfer of a booking to an alternative course date is permissible up to 21 working days prior to the starting date – subject to availability. Requests must be received by email. Transfer will incur a fee of 1,500 THB. Transferred bookings are not eligible for refunds. EXAMINATION Exam dates are fixed to the course onto which you have booked. Any transfer to an alternative exam date will incur a fee of 1,500 THB. Exam transfer requests must be made by email and are subject to availability. Exam transfer requests made within 21 or less working days of the exam date will incur a fee of 1,500 THB plus the cost of unused exam paper: 3,000 THB. COURSE MATERIALS Except for the courses for which course materials are handed in on the first day of class, course materials might be picked up before classes start at Wine & Spirit IQ’s location (Room 902, floor 9, i-Yara building, 2/22 Chan Rd, Thung Wat Don, Sathon, Bangkok 10120) upon appointment only.
