Can't Travel to Spain this Year? Let us bring Spain to You!

Updated: Jan 8, 2021

You might not be flying this year, but you can still experience a lil' of the Spanish Culture!

Discover the country through its amazing vinos. Learn the stories from los "Profesores" aka wine experts Nicky and Jordàn in a truly Spanish eatery in the heart of Thonglor!

I can’t think of an old-world wine country that has changed so much in the last 10 years. If you still think Spain is just about cheap and cheerful reds, Tempranillo-based Rioja and Sherry…. Think again: The diversity will blow your mind -and taste buds! Thanks to a handful of Thai importers such as Iconic Wines, La Bodegas or FIN, we can now access some of the best wines Spain has to offer. The program we are offering was developed by The Wine Scholar Guild: The WSG has done an amazing job compiling a comprehensive and up-to-date educational program, and we are proud to bring the Spanish Wine Scholar Program to wine lovers and professionals in Bangkok. Our host for this course will be El Tapeo, a truly Spanish Eatery located in the heart of Thonglor.

The "Profesores" are none others than Nicky and Jordán. Mr Chatchai Thavonthanakul "Nicky" is hoder of the Rioja Wine Diploma  and the Spanish Wine Scholar (with Highest Honors) and Approved WSG Instructor. Mr Jordán Cortés Alvarez, is certified Cava Educator and Sommelier in Sherry Wine.

The Spanish Wine Scholar™ education program is the most advanced and comprehensive certification course on the wines of Spain. The syllabus takes a regional approach and discusses all Spanish wine appellations and the factors that shape their identities. It provides committed students of wine with an unparalleled set of study tools that are designed to maximize learning and boost knowledge retention.

The program was created by Spanish wine specialist Rick Fisher, Spanish Wine Scholar™ Education Director.

Wines from Spain (ICEX - Spain's Trade & Investment Government Agency) has endorsed the program in recognition of its exceptional level of depth, accuracy, detail, and academic rigor.

Rick Fisher, Spanish Wine Scholar Education Director, states “The Spanish Wine Scholar program is really the first program of its kind to dig deep into the world of Spanish wine. Students of SWS will study the wine regions of all 17 autonomous communities in Spain and learn about the factors affecting the regions (e.g. climate, soils, and topography), major grape varieties, and wine styles. Every Protected Denomination of Origin (PDO) is covered in this manual and, although this first edition is hot off the press, it is company policy to update the study manuals yearly so that they stay current."
